MAY 17, 2014 – St. Petersburg residents were stunned this month when at a PTA meeting a conservative, anti-medical marijuana group passed out pamphlets in an attempt to derail the medical cannabis movement gaining momentum in Florida. Floridians will vote this November on the issue, and campaigning for and against on the issue will be raging all year long. The group behind this outrageous act is “Save Our Society From Drugs”, a website launched by a St. Petersburg lobbying group funded by conservatives, and they used their cozy relationship with the Florida Sheriffs Association and their “NOPE Task Force” (soundless pretty militant to me) campaign to hassle citizens to sneak in and get access to the PTA meeting.
