Victor Kunonga blends musical-activism and mbira-inspired guitar playing into a smooth mixture that is making him very popular. Victor will be helping celebrate Africa Culture Week sponsored by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe. Victor is no stranger to musical-activism, in 2013 he teamed up with Jamaican dub poet D’Bi Young for a “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence”. The celebration will be going on all week long to showcase and celebrate the diversity of the Zimbabwean culture and arts.

A Mbira Dzavadzimu is a traditional African “thumb piano” that has been played by the Shona people of Zimbabwe for thousands of years. Click here to see a video of a mbira being played.
