OCT 19, 2012 - OMB Watch, an organization dedicated to promoting effective government spending and "A just and democratic society in which every individual can thrive.", has released a GREAT video showing the importance and critical roles that government play in our lives and help businesses and communities thrive.
The government is NOT the problem, it can provide roads and infrastructure to move goods to the market, and it can provide businesses with educated and trained workers. The public funding for roads, police, firemen, schools and more is under fire more and more from conservatives, and we here at JTMP want to say that we support INCREASING the funding for social services and infrastructure, and establishing responsible and fair revenue intake to fund this great country and lead it into prosperity. Please watch the video below to see how important government plays a role in our lives, and how it helps businesses operate and thrive; and check out the OMB Watch website here.
MAR 12, 2012 - Punk music activist band Anti-Flag, who have been interviewed and featured on the Justice Through Music's website and "Rock Your Rights" DVDs over the years, has teamed up with Amnesty International and released a powerful new music video called "This is the New Sound" speaking out against the NDAA, or National Defense Authorization Act. The act gives the President power to detain and hold American citizens indefinitely without a charge or a trial.
The song is from their upcoming album "The General Strike" to be released on March 20th. Anti-Flag has been one of the most political musical activist bands ever, with lyrics such as "You gotta Die for Your Government, That's shit!". Drummer Pat Thetic is an outspoken critic of the use of depleted uranium by US, UK, Israeli and other militaries in their bullets. They have teamed up and supported PETA, Greenpeace, and Democracy Now! and numerous causes over the years.
If you want to learn more check out Wiki and to sign a petition against the NDAA there is one at Petition2Congress, and Change.org. Watch the new video "This is the New Sound" from Anti-Flag below:
Justice Through Music has teamed up with hundreds of non-profit organizations and thousands of concerned America citizens in a coalition to end corporate personhood and overturn the Citizens United Ruling, called Move To Amend. We feel that big corporate money is poisoning our elections and democratic process, and preventing the voice of the American people from being heard by their elected representatives.
We strongly feel that the ruling in the Citizens United vs. the Federal Election Commission that ruled corporations are persons and entitled by the Constitution to buy our elections and run our government is un-democratic, misguided and wrong and needs to be overturned by a Constitutional amendment by Congress. As we say on the petition website, "We, the People of the United States of America, reject the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in Citizens United, and move to amend our Constitution to firmly establish that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to constitutional rights."
If you feel the same, and would like to sign the petition asking for Congress to act and overturn this horrible decision by the Supreme Court, and/or you are an organization that wants to join the coalition, please visit the Move To Amend website:
